Count the ch 3 as the first dc thoroughout
Ch 6, join with sl st to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 2. * 3dc in ring, ch 2. Repeat from * 5 times. Sl st to beg ch 3.
Round 2: Sl st to ch 2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp, ch 1. * 3dc in next ch 2 sp, ch 2, 3dc in same sp, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
Round 3: Sl st to ch 2 sp, ch 3, 6 dc in same sp. 1 sc in next ch 1 sp, *7 dc in next ch 2 sp, 1 sc in next ch 1 sp. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog. Fasten off and weave in ends.
This is a pattern that has been around a long time. I don't believe it's considered to be mine, since it's a simple granny square start.
