I hook
Scrap yarn (I used worsted weight 4 ply acrylic yarn)
This hat is a little bit big on my daughter. I made it for a older child. For Adult: Use a J hook.
Work rounds in whatever color you want...I had shades of pink that I put with black in between.
Ch 4, sl st tog to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 2, 11 hdc in the ring. Sl st tog.
Round 2: Ch 2, hdc in same st. 2 hdc in each st around. Sl st tog.
Round 3: Ch 2, hdc in same st. *Hdc in next st, 2hdc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
Round 4: Ch 2, hdc in same st. *Hdc in next 2 sts, then 2hdc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
Round 5: Ch 2, hdc in same st. *Hdc in next 3 sts, then 2hdc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
Round 6: Ch 2, hdc in each st around. Sl st tog.
Round 7-18: Repeat Round 6.
Girl's Hat: Round 19: Ch 1, sc in the same st. *Skip 2 sts, 5dc in st (shell). Repeat from * around. Sl st tog. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Boy's Hat: Round 19: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Sl st tog.
