8 oz approx. Red Heart Giant skein (12 oz- the skein was not full) color Dream Girl
We have winter up here, so I made this with acrylic yarn. I believe 4 ply cotton would be a good substitute.
Size: approx. size 4/6x Because of the length and the waist...I believe this could go up to a size 6x.
Finished project measurements: waist 21" for Shaelynn. There is plenty of room to make it bigger. I would guess up to 24" or 25" waist. 19" long from waist to bottom.
Gauge: I'm new at putting gauge on this, so here's an approx. 4 hdc equal one inch
Ch 83, sl st tog to form a ring. From Round 1 to Round 20, crochet in Back Loops Only.
Round 1: Ch 2, hdc in same st. Hdc in each st around. Sl st tog into the first hdc, do not sl st to the ch 2. I do this as to pull the sides tog as to not leave any holes in the skirt.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st. Sc in each st around. Sl st tog into the first sc, do not sl st to the ch 1.
Round 3: Repeat Round 1.
Round 4: Repeat Round 2.
Round 5: Repeat Round 1.
Round 6: Repeat Round 2.
Round 7: Repeat Round 1.
Round 8: Repeat Round 2.
Round 9: Repeat Round 1.
Round 10: Repeat Round 2.
Round 11: Repeat Round 1.
Round 12: Repeat Round 2.
Round 13: Repeat Round 1.
Round 14: Repeat Round 2.
Round 15: Repeat Round 1.
Round 16: Ch 3, dc in the next 4 sts, 2dc in the next st. *Dc in the next 5 sts, 2 dc in the next st. Repeat from *. Sl st tog into the first dc, do not sl st to the ch 3.
Round 17: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Sl st tog into the first dc, do not sl st to the ch 3.
Round 18: Ch 3, dc in the next 9 sts, 2 dc in the next st. *Dc in the next 10 sts, 2dc in the next st. Repeat from *. Sl st tog into the first dc, do not sl st to the ch 3.
Round 19: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Sl st tog into the first dc, do not sl st to the ch 3.
Round 20: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Sl st tog into the first dc, do not sl st to the ch 3.
Round 21: Ch 3, dc-ch2-2dc in same st. *Skip 2 sts. In the next st, do 2dc-ch2-2dc. Repeat from * around. End with skip 1 st and 2dc-ch2-2dc then sl st tog at the top of the ch 3 from the beg ch 3.
Round 22: Sl st over to the ch 2 sp, Ch 3-dc-ch2-2dc in that space. *In the next ch 2 sp from previous round, 2dc-ch2-2dc. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog at the top of the ch 3 from the beg ch 3.
Rounds 23-30: Repeat Round 22.
Round 31: Ch 1, sc in Back Loops Only in each st around. Sl st tog.
Round 32: Repeat Round 31. Fasten off and weave in ends.
I use 1/4" elastic on all my daughter’s clothes. So I take the ¼" elastic, measure it to my daughter and cut it. Then I sew the one end into a circle. Then I sc the elastic to the first row of hdc of the skirt. (sc around the elastic not through it) Fasten off and weave in ends.
