Fall/Winter Pants

Fall/Winter Pants

If you post a picture somewhere else on the internet of an item that you have made from my patterns, please be kind to provide the direct link to my website.  Do not change names of my patterns.  I’ve worked hard on these patterns and changing the name does not change the pattern.  This is a copyrighted pattern.  Be respectful of that fact.

H hook
I used Caron Pounder ww yarn. It didn’t take that much, but I’m not sure. I’ll estimate 4 oz.
Approximately for a size 4. You can lengthen it by adding more rows. I recommend measuring child’s leg or trying it on child before ending.

This pattern has been inspired by Michelle’s shorts pattern. I wouldn’t have known how to do it without her help. Thank you, Michelle. I have her permission to post my pattern. Go to this link:

Note: I have a special way of making no holes when you sl st together. I’ll try to explain this as I do the pattern. You’ll be working in rounds for this pattern.

Ch 80, sl st in the beg st. Do not twist your chain. (Work through both loops throughout pants)
Row 1: Ch 2, hdc in the same stitch. Then hdc in each stitch around, sl st tog. Sl st to the top of the first hdc, not the ch 2. This pulls the stitches tog so that there is no hole. You hdc in the same stitch at the beginning and then you pull it tog by skipping the ch 2 part. Try this and you’ll see the difference.
Row 2 – 15: Repeat Row 1.
First Leg Hole: Row 16: Ch 3, dc in the next 40 sts, sl st in top of beg ch 3.
First Leg Row 17: Ch 3, Dc in same st. Dc around and sl st to the first dc not the ch 3. Once again, this pulls the stitch tog so there is no hole.
First Leg Row 18 – 24: Repeat Row 17.
First Leg Row 19: *Ch 3, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
First Leg Row 20: *Ch 3, sc in the ch 3 space from the previous row. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Go back to crotch area. Join yarn with sl st.
Now for the Second Leg Hole Row 16: Ch 3, dc around each st and sl st tog.
Second Leg Row 17: Ch 3, Dc in same st. Dc around and sl st to the first dc not the ch 3. Once again, this pulls the stitch tog so there is no hole.
Second Leg Row 18 – 24: Repeat Row 17.
Second Leg Row 19: *Ch 3, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
Second Leg Row 20: *Ch 3, sc in the ch 3 space from the previous row. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog. Fasten off and weave in ends.

I go back to the crotch area and sew the seam shut with yarn and a needle.

I use elastic on all my daughter’s clothes. So I take the ¼" elastic, measure it to my daughter and cut it. Then I sew the one end into a circle. Then I sc the elastic to the first row of hdc of the pants. (sc around the elastic not through it) Fasten off and weave in ends.
