I'm giving these hats away to the schools in our area to distribute to the children. I thank the Crochetville members who thought of the name and helped me name this. You can make it all different colors. Just change colors and make up your own pattern.
If you post a picture somewhere else on the internet of an item that you have made from my patterns, please be kind to provide the direct link to my website. Do not change names of my patterns. I’ve worked hard on these patterns and changing the name does not change the pattern. This is a copyrighted pattern. Be respectful of that fact.
I hook and scraps of ww yarn like Red Heart
Ch 5, sl st tog to make a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2 in ring, *3 dc, ch 2. Repeat from * 2 more times, sl st tog at the top of ch3. (total of 4 groups of 3dc, ch 2)
Round 2: Sl st over the next 2 sts to the middle of the 3dc group, ch 3, 2 dc in same st as ch 3, ch 1. *3 dc in ch2 space from previous row, ch 1. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog. (Total 8 groups of 3dc, ch 1)
Round 3: Repeat Round 2. (Total of 16 groups of 3dc, ch1)
Round 4: Sl st over to ch 1 space from previous row, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp. *3 dc in next ch 1 space. Repeat around. Sl st tog.
Round 5: Sl st to space between 3dc group of previous row, ch 3. Tr into center of 3dc group from the previous row, dc in same space as first ch 3. *In the next space between 3dc group, dc, tr, dc. Repeat from * around. (Each tr is going into the previous row's middle dc) Sl st tog.
Round 6- 16: Repeat Round 5.
Boy's Hat edging: After Round 16, ch 1 and sc around the edge of the hat. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Girl's Hat ruffled edging: After Round 16, *ch 3, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog. Next row edging: *Ch 3, sc into the ch 3 space from the 1st row edging. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog, fasten off and weave in ends. This looks really cool if you use the 2 colors from the hat.
